13th IBAGS meeting, in Biarritz
The 13th meeting of the International Basal Ganglia Society (IBAGS) held at the Municipal Casino Biarritz under the presidency of Thomas Boraud, has just ended. It brought together in this masterpiece of the Art-Deco architecture with an unforgettable sea view, 310 participants who interacted for 4 days during plenary sessions and poster presentations.
The attendants had access to a state of the art on the functional organization of the network, its phylogenetic development, plasticity under dopaminergic control, associated pathophysiology processes, the diversity of neurodegenerative processes, etc… A varied social program allowed international participants to enjoy the charms of the Basque region under a beautiful sun (which was not guaranty!). A magnificent exhibition of Ramon-y-Cajal drawings courtesy of the Cajal Institute of Madrid was opened to the public in parallel with the congress. It has attracted a public eager to interact with the community. The congress closed on a Haka (see here) in tribute to the next edition which will take place in December 2025 at Blenheim, New Zealand.
